A specific diagnosis in a young man

Bhavin Jankharia

Case:

A 22-year-old presented with a prevascular space mediastinal mass extending into the visceral space and markedly increasing in size over 9 days with pleural and pericardial involvement

Thoughts?

  1. Lymphoma
  2. Germ cell tumor

I biopsied it and we got a diagnosis, a specific histology, which apparently should have been the first diagnosis in my head...but I wasn't aware of this till I read it up.
