Case of the Day - 165 - Not Missing Breast Lesions on CT Chest...And What to do If You Find Them

Not missing breast lesions on CT chest

Bhavin Jankharia

60-years old lady with cough and dyspnea on exertion Gd II came for a CT scan.

She has a mixed non-specific interstitial pneumonia/organizing pneumonia NSIP-OP pattern suggestive of connective tissue disease ILD with an enlarged left axillary node, which was biopsied on our recommendation. Histopath was metastastic adenocarcinoma.

A review of the CT chest showed a left breast nodule that had flown by in the initial reading.

The video discusses the case, the cognitive bias that led to this and what to do if and when a breast nodule is identified incidentally on a CT scan of the chest.
